Developing Master Plan

The proposed design extends the presence of Colonial Lake and Moultrie Playground into the surrounding neighborhoods. The plan preserves and enhances current and proposed recreational activities and the experience of the promenade along the lake edge, through the park, and out to the Ashley River. The design provides an improved community building, creates multiple gathering and seating areas in and around the park, and utilizes the best horticultural practices in both design and maintenance in collaboration with the Charleston Park Conservancy. The proposed design restores the water quality of the lake by raising levels and utilizing tidal flushing, and reconnects people with the history of the park.
