Smythe Park
Daniel Island, South Carolina
24 acres

Master Plan

Smythe Park is located on the southern end of Daniel Island. It was determined in the early planning stages of this neighborhood that all of the future one acre focal point parks within the south end of Daniel Island would be grouped into one very large park with a body of water in order to create a great amenity for the entire surrounding community. The result is a 24 acre park with a 12 acre water body.

The first phase of the park will include an esplanade, a waterfront promenade with specialty paving, seat walls, gas lighting and a memorial feature dedicated to Henry Smythe, the longtime friend and lawyer for the Daniel Island Company. Additionally, a passive woodland path weaves between the majestic oaks dotting the open space in the open area above the lake. Near the woodland area is a man-made island and in the near future users of this place will be able to cross over a bridge and walk down to a dock. This dock will serve as a place to launch kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats. From time to time, fishing demonstrations will be held as a community activity.
